Who We Are

Hayes Town Chapel was formed in 1788 following the ministries of
John Wesley and George Whitefield in the area, during the 18th century evangelical revival.

The same message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone is preached here today. We proclaim a God who is sovereign in creation, providence and redemption. This God has graciously revealed Himself to us through His infallible Word, the Bible, and this is our rule of faith and conduct.

Our basis of faith is founded in the historic Reformed Confessions. Hayes Town Chapel is a member of the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches.

A range of services and activities take place at the church throughout the week, to which you are warmly invited!

Harvest Supper 2009

Here are a few clips from our Harvest Supper, Saturday 10th October 2009, and the short talk from visiting speaker Aaron Flanagan, pastor of a church in Woolwich.

About 130 attended the Harvest Supper and enjoyed a lovely meal together. But its not all about food. Aaron spoke on what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and lose his soul? Have a listen.

On Sunday we collected gifts, such as sugar, tea, coffee, toothpaste and brushes etc. These will be taken for the homeless who the London City Mission serve breakfast to each morning.

How to Find Us

Hayes Town Chapel is located in Hayes, Middlesex, just outside of Hayes town centre. You can find us at the junction of St Mary's Road and Church Road, opposite the Hayes & Yeading United Football Club. The church is about 4 miles from London's Heathrow Airport and about 15 miles from the centre of London. The church is an easy 3.5 miles from Brunel University, Uxbridge Campus.

Here are a few ways to travel to the church:

By Bus
The following bus services stop very near Hayes Town Chapel on Church Road:
H98, 195

These buses stop further away but are still within walking distance:
90, 140, 427, 607, E6, H28, U1, U4

By Train
The nearest station is Hayes & Harlington Station, about 1 mile away - roughly a 10 minute walk or 5 minutes by bus (H98 or 195). The station services London Paddington (about 20 minutes) and links to the West Country & South Wales. These are operated by First Great Western and Heathrow Connect.

By Car

(From the South)
From the M25, exit at Junction 15 onto the M4, Eastbound, towards London. Then follow East/West instructions.

(From the East/West)
From the M4, exit at Junction 3 onto the A312 (Hayes Bypass), Northbound. Continue on the A312 over the Tesco roundabout, you will then be on a bridge (over a railway line/canal). Take the 2nd exit after the bridge, at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A4020 (Uxbridge Road), towards Uxbridge. Church Road is the 3rd turning on the left hand side as you travel along the A4020. The church is on the left, about half a mile down Church Road.

(From the North)
From the M25, exit at Junction 16 onto the M40 (A40), Eastbound, towards Uxbridge/London. Take the 3rd exit (Hillingdon Circus). Go straight over the roundabout and at the traffic lights, turn right onto Long Lane. At the end of Long Lane, turn left onto the A4020 (Uxbridge Road), towards Hayes/Southall. At the 6th set of lights (not including pedestrain crossings), turn right onto Church Road (opposite the Adam & Eve pub). The church is on the left, about half a mile down Church Road.

Outreach Services

Hayes Cottage Nursing Home
Once a month on Sunday afternoon, we conduct a short service and sing hymns together with the elderly at the nursing home. We welcome any of the congregation to join us and take part with this outreach.

Kelf Grove
Monthly service at the Manor House Centre of the sheltered accommodation.

Senior Citizens Songs of Praise
This is a time of Praise and Worship which is a good opportunity to bring the elderly who don't regulary attend a worship service, to come to the church and join in with the praise. It's also an oportunity for fellowship when refreshments are served afterwards. This is held every 3 months.

Annual Harvest Thanksgiving Supper
This event consists of a bufet style sit down supper, enjoyed by around 100 guests. Between the main course and dessert we have a short talk, relavent to the occasion, provided by a guest speaker.

After the Sunday Evening Service | Monthly | Ages 16+

It's not untrue to say that human beings are social animals. 16+ hopes to provide fellowship as well as social and evangelistic activities for anyone in the age range (about) 16-30. We do this in conjunction with young people from Hounslow West Evangelical Church.

Our aims include:

Providing fellowship for existing Christians
Reaching people of a similar age with the gospel
Ordinary socialising
Being visible to newcomers to the church

To meet these aims, we meet monthly after the Sunday evening service in somebody's home. We also hope to meet about once a month for informal 'social' purposes (going to see a film, for a walk, for a meal, bowling, etc, etc...).

Typically, the Sunday evening meetings consist of a short talk, whose title is advertised in advance, followed by discussion. The discussion is an important part of the meeting - we don't want yet another sermon...

Songs of Praise

Saturday | 3:30 - 5:30pm | For Senior Citizens

This is a time of Praise and Worship which is a good opportunity to bring the elderly who don't regulary attend a worship service, to come to the church and join in with the praise. It's also an oportunity for fellowship when refreshments are served afterwards.

The next Songs of Praise will be on Saturday 21st May at 3.30 pm Come and sing familiar hymns and even choose one yourself. This will be followed by a sit down tea, with homemade cakes etc.

Do come and meet new friends and hear God's Word both in song and ministry.

Stop for Coffee

Timed to coincide with the market taking place opposite the church, in Hayes & Yeading United Football Club's car park, Stop for Coffee is an opportunity to relax, take the weight off your feet and enjoy light refreshments and a tastey treat.... FREE!

Youth Club

Friday | 7:30 - 10:00pm | Ages 11-16
(All mid-week youth activities are during school term time only)

As well as providing a safe, friendly and fun environment for young teens to spend a Friday evening, at Youth Club we share the valuable life lessons taught by The Bible.

The evening begins at 7:30pm with a short lesson brought to the teens by an experienced member of the church leadership. There is time for open questions and discussion after each lesson.

From 8:00 - 9:00pm is games time when the teens are free to play board games, pool, table tennis, badminton, team games including volleyball, indoor hockey, handball and football. There is also a cooking lesson each week where the teens have opportunity to make treats for the rest of the Youth Club to enjoy later in the evening. During this hour we often small projects set involving craft and creativity for the teens to enjoy. Points are awarded for participation, completion and winning different activities. Prizes for the highest point scorers are awarded at the end of each term.

From 9:00 until we close at 10:00pm we all come together to watch a section of a movie which we cover over several weeks. Popcorn, soft drinks and the treats made by the teens are free to enjoy during the movie. After watching the section of movie, we have a quiz about the movie for which we also award points. These quiz times often turn into interesting discussions as we cover relevant issues brought up in the movie.

Award Points
Points are awarded for participation, contribution and excelling. Each member collects points throughout a term. At the end of each term we organise a trip or activity for the 4 members who've collected the most points. These trips have included an evening at a golf driving range, pizza & bowling, trips into London for shows or other attractions, and a trip to Thorpe Park to which we invited some older member that hadn't attended Youth Club for a while, in order to strengthen and continue friendships. Here's a memory of the Thorpe Park trip:

Little Fishes is run by members of Hayes Town Chapel whose aim for the group is to provide a friendly environment for both adults and children to meet, while being able to introduce you and your family to simple Bible stories.

The format of the group is as follows:

Free time for play and craft
Children have squash and biscuits/fruit (Adults have tea or coffee)
Bible story and songs
Pushalong play

Morning Prayer Meeting

This Prayer meeting was set up for those who find it difficult to make it to the Thursday evening Bible Study & Prayer Meeting, but all are welcome to join us for this helpful time of prayer.

Mid-Week Prayer Meeting

Thursday | 7:45 - 9:30pm | Open for All

This is a time to meet together in the middle of the working week, to learn from short Bible study sessions and occasional group discussions, and to pray together for matters of international, national, local and personal importance.

Prayer is the foundation of the Christian life and prayer meetings are the strong foundations of a healthy church.

We are often blessed to have missionaries visit us to bring compelling news of their work in the UK or abroad, to raise awarness of situations and to bring matters for prayer. These meetings are very encouraging and enable us to keep in good contact with churches worldwide.

Sunday Services

10:30am - Sunday School Classes

Children's Classes: There are 4 age groups: Ages 3-5 , 5-7, 8-11and 12-16. The children are taught Bible stories, songs and take part in activities. These classes take place in the various rooms in the church.

Adult Class: The adult class takes place in the main church building. The class covers subjects over periods of weeks, studying in detail what the Bible has to teach us.

11:00am - Family Service
This service takes place in the main church building. Pastor Gwynne Evans preaches from the Bible in a way that is accessible to all ages. The service includes Bible readings, prayer, hymns and a short talk for young children.

6:00pm - Prayer Meeting
This is a short time of open prayer for all. It takes place in the side hall and finishes in good time for the evening service.

6:30pm - Evening Service
This service takes place in the main church building. Pastor Gwynne Evans again brings us the Word of God from the Bible, covering sections of scripture over several weeks. This service is often followed by refreshments.

Monthly Communion Service
The Communion service take place on the first Sunday of the month and replaces the adult class at 10:30am. We welcome all to these services, but ask that you be a believing member of a church to take the sacraments.

Meetings After the Evening Service
After the evening service the 16up group meet for fellowship (see the 16up page in the Mid-Week Activities menu). There is also an occasional fellowship meeting at the Manse. The Manse fellowship is announced a week in advance.
